Method
Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the cake ingredients: chocolate chips, butter, cream, salt, icing sugar, sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, eggs, soured milk, black coffee, vegetable oil, and vanilla flavoring. Use an electric mixer to beat everything together for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Pour your batter into two greased and floured 9-inch cake pans, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. To check doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
Frosting Preparation
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely. Add cream and salt, heating until just boiling.
- Remove from heat and add chocolate chips, stirring until smooth after letting it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add vanilla extract and gradually mix in icing sugar until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.
Chocolate Truffle Preparation
- Heat the cream in a small saucepan over low flame until nearly boiling. Remove from heat and introduce the chocolate chips, letting the mixture sit for 5 minutes before stirring until smooth.
- Wash and pat strawberries dry. Dip each strawberry into the chocolate mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Place dipped strawberries on wax paper or silicone-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for about half an hour to set.
Assembly
- Assemble your cake by placing one layer on a serving plate, smoothing on a generous amount of frosting, then topping with the second layer.
- Finish by frosting the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate the cake with chocolate truffle dipped strawberries, placing them creatively around the edges or on top for a stunning presentation.
Notes
For enhanced chocolate experience, use high-quality dark chocolate for chips. Allow frosting to cool slightly before applying to avoid melting. If frosting is too thick, warm briefly in the microwave in ten-second bursts.
