Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups whole milk Provides a rich, velvety texture.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Adds a subtle tanginess.
  • 1 tsp salt Enhances overall flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pour the whole milk and buttermilk into a large pot and stir gently to combine.
  2. Set the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring constantly.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stop stirring. Allow to cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and cover it. Let it sit for 10 minutes to firm up the curds.
Straining
  1. Line a colander with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel and place it in the sink.
  2. Carefully transfer the curds into the lined colander and let them drain for about a minute.
  3. Once drained, move the ricotta into an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Consider infusing flavors with herbs or spices before heating. Allowing the curds to sit undisturbed is crucial for the perfect texture.
