Ingredients

Burger Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (85% lean for flavor and juiciness)
  • 1 Cup Chopped Jalapeños (remove seeds for milder kick)
  • 1/2 Small Yellow Onion (finely chopped for sweetness)
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese (for creamy, melty texture)
  • 1 Tsp Jalapeño Seeds (for an extra layer of heat)
  • 1 Tsp Jalapeño Powder (to intensify pepper flavor)
  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder (adds depth)
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder (for savory aroma)
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground for a nice bite)
  • 1 Tsp Dried Dill Weed (to add herbaceous note)
  • 1 Tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce (for touch of umami)
  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar (to balance spice with sweetness)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, chopped jalapeños, yellow onion, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapeño seeds, jalapeño powder, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, dried dill weed, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into five equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty that is about 1-inch thick.
Cooking
  1. If using a grill, preheat it and grill each patty for about 5 minutes on each side, until they reach an internal temperature of 175-185°F. If grilling isn’t an option, use a skillet, cooking each side for 6-7 minutes until browned.
Serving
  1. Serve each turkey patty in a chilled lettuce wrap with your favorite toppings such as tomatoes or avocado.

Notes

For extra moisture, incorporate a tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt or a dash of apple cider vinegar into the mixture. Lightly oil the grill or skillet to prevent sticking. Feel free to experiment with other cheeses like pepper jack for added spice.
