Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3-4 pounds Chuck roast Ideal for slow cooking; becomes tender.
  • 1 packet Ranch dressing mix Adds creamy, herby flavor.
  • 1 packet Au jus gravy mix Provides rich beefy depth.
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter Adds creaminess to the dish.
  • 6-7 Pepperoncini peppers Essential for classic Mississippi flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by placing your chuck roast in a slow cooker, centered for even cooking.
  2. Sprinkle the top of the roast with the ranch dressing mix and the Au jus gravy mix.
  3. Place the unsalted butter in chunks on top of the meat, then scatter the pepperoncini peppers around.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low heat for about 8 hours.
  2. Once the cooking time is up, shred the roast with two forks right in the slow cooker.
  3. Stir it into the juices for an even more flavorful meal.

Notes

For the best results, select a chuck roast with good marbling. You can add sliced onions or garlic cloves for deeper flavor. Do not open the lid during cooking to avoid extending the cook time.
