Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Choose ground chuck for a richer taste and texture.
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced) Adds sweetness and depth to your chili.
  • 1 package chili seasoning mix Select your favorite blend for the perfect kick.
  • 2 cans chili beans (16-ounce) Opt for any spice level that suits your palate.
  • 2 cans diced chili-ready tomatoes (14.5-ounce) These tomatoes are juicy and flavorful, serving as the base of your chili.
  • 1/2 cup water Helps adjust the thickness of your chili.
  • 2/3 cup dry pasta (like spaghetti, broken into short pieces) Adds a delightful texture to the dish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, heat over medium-high heat and add the ground beef along with the diced onion. Brown the beef until no pink remains. Carefully drain as much grease as possible using a spoon.
  2. Return the pot with the cooked beef and onions to the heat. Add the chili seasoning mix, diced tomatoes (with their juice), chili beans, and 1/2 cup of water. Stir until everything is well combined. Adjust consistency with additional water if needed.
Cooking
  1. Turn up the heat and bring the chili mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the broken pasta and return the pot to a simmer. Continue stirring occasionally as the pasta cooks, which should take about 8 to 11 minutes.
Serving
  1. Once the pasta is cooked, serve the chili warm or let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate leftovers for later consumption.

Notes

Enhance the flavor by properly browning the beef and onion. Optionally add jalapeños for spice, or use beef broth for a richer base. You can also add bell peppers or corn for more texture and nutrition.
