Ingredients

Tofu Base Ingredients
  • 16 oz high-protein tofu This creamy tofu serves as the base of the recipe.
Marinade Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth Adds moisture and depth.
  • 2 tbsp Bragg's Liquid Aminos (or tamari or soy sauce) Enhances the flavor profile of the tofu.
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke Contributes a rich, smoky aroma.
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika Adds warmth and hint of sweetness.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder Infuses tofu with a savory essence.
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper (optional) Kicks up the heat.
  • 2 tbsp light olive oil (or another neutral-flavored oil) Helps achieve a crispy texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Drain your block of high-protein tofu and pat it dry to eliminate excess moisture.
  3. Slice the tofu into thin shavings and place them in a shallow container.
  4. In a bowl, combine the vegetable broth, Bragg's Liquid Aminos, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to mix.
  5. Pour the marinade over the shaved tofu, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  6. Grease a sheet pan with olive oil.
Cooking
  1. Pour the marinated tofu onto the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
  2. Bake at 400°F (204°C) for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
Storage
  1. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Press the tofu prior to slicing for an even firmer texture. Customize the marinade with spices and herbs to taste. Use leftover marinade to flavor other veggies or grains.
