Ingredients
Method
Fry the Shallots and Garlic
- Begin with a cold medium skillet where you’ll place the thinly sliced shallots and garlic.
- Pour enough olive oil to completely submerge them.
- Turn the heat to medium-high for just 1 minute, then reduce it to low.
- Gently fry while occasionally stirring with chopsticks or a spatula for about 12-15 minutes.
- Remove the fried ingredients and let them drain on a paper towel, reserving 2 tablespoons of oil for the butter.
- Once cooled, give the crispy mixture a rough chop to incorporate it into the butter.
Whip the Butter
- In a mixing bowl, combine the room temperature unsalted butter, heavy cream, lemon zest, and garlic shallot oil.
- Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes until fluffy.
- Scrape the sides and increase the speed to high, whipping for another 4-5 minutes until light and creamy.
Assemble and Serve
- Add a generous spoonful of the whipped butter into a serving dish.
- Sprinkle some of the crispy shallots and garlic over the top.
- Repeat this layering until all the butter is used, finishing with a sprinkle of the crispy mixture, a drizzle of honey, and a pinch of flaky salt.
- Serve warm alongside crusty, fresh bread.
Notes
For an extra depth of flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or rosemary to the whipping butter. Monitor the frying process closely, as low and slow is ideal. Mix the whipped butter in advance and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours for a better flavor.
