  • 1 teaspoon pepper Adds a warm kick to each bite.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances the natural flavors of the beef.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil To achieve a beautiful sear that locks in juices.
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced) Delivers sweetness and depth to the dish.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Awakens the dish with its aromatic essence.
  • 2 cups no-sodium beef broth (divided) Provides a savory base for the gravy.
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Adds a rich, umami flavor.
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons beef better than bouillon (or 2 beef bouillon cubes) For an extra punch of flavor.
  • 2.87 oz reduced sodium brown gravy packets Ensures a quick and creamy thickness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by seasoning the beef tips with salt and pepper, ensuring each piece is generously coated for optimal flavor. Set them aside.
  2. In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. When shimmery, sear the beef tips on both sides until they develop a rich, brown crust.
  3. Reduce heat to low, add diced onion and minced garlic, stirring for about 5 minutes until the onion is tender and fragrant.
  4. Pour in 1 cup of beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and beef bouillon. Stir to combine and cover loosely.
  5. Let the beef tips simmer over low heat for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Gravy Preparation
  1. As cooking nears the end, whisk gravy packets with 1 cup of low-sodium beef broth. Pour into skillet with beef tips and stir well.
  2. Increase heat to medium and bring gravy to a gentle simmer, cooking for 2 to 4 minutes until thickened.
  3. Taste the gravy to adjust seasoning before serving over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate beef tips in Worcestershire sauce for a few hours. Add vegetables like carrots or mushrooms during simmering for extra nutrition.
