  • 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs for a crunchy coating
  • 0.5 cup flour to help the batter stick
  • 2-3 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 cup of flour. Stir until you have a smooth batter.
  2. Stir in 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper into the batter. Set aside to rest for a few minutes.
  3. Skewer each hot dog carefully with a skewer.
  4. Prepare your coating station with 1 1/2 cups of panko breadcrumbs on one plate and 1/2 cup of flour on another.
Coating the Corn Dogs
  1. Coat each skewered hot dog in flour, then dip it in the batter, and finally roll it in panko breadcrumbs. Repeat for remaining hot dogs.
Frying
  1. In a deep pan, heat 2-3 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  2. Carefully place the corn dogs in the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  3. Remove corn dogs from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or chili powder to the batter. For a thicker coating, double-dip the hot dogs in batter and panko. Maintain a consistent oil temperature for even cooking.
