Method
Baking the Cupcakes
- Start by preparing a batch of homemade chocolate cupcakes. Allow them to cool completely before frosting.
Preparing the Frosting
- Whip up a batch of our Best Buttercream Frosting recipe, ensuring it’s creamy and easy to spread.
Coloring the Frosting
- Split the batch of frosting into thirds. Leave one third white and tint the remaining two thirds red and dark pink.
Frosting the Cupcakes
- Using the Wilton 1M Open Star frosting tip, pipe one and a half circles of red frosting around the edge of each cupcake.
- Switch to the darker pink frosting and apply one and a half smaller circles in the same manner.
- Finally, add beautiful swirls of white frosting on top, rising to a peak for that signature look.
Notes
Always preheat your oven for even baking. Ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother buttercream. Practice piping on a plate to get comfortable with the technique.
