Preparation
- Using a box grater, zest your lime to release its aromatic oils. Then, using a fork, juice the lime, ensuring you capture all the tangy liquid.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to warm up. Once hot, add the ground beef. Let it brown nicely, breaking up any large chunks with a sturdy spatula.
- When the beef is about three-quarters cooked through, sprinkle in the garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, black pepper, lime juice, and lime zest. Stir everything to combine well and cook until the meat is fully browned and the spices are aromatic.
- Scoop the zesty beef into taco shells and serve with fresh salsa, shredded cheese, creamy avocado slices, crunchy radish slices, fresh cilantro, and a generous dollop of Hood sour cream for that perfect creamy finish.
Notes
For best flavor, don’t rush the browning of the beef. Customize the heat level by adjusting the cayenne pepper. Experiment with toppings like pickled jalapeños or mango salsa.
